Brisben Water Selected as 2013 New Energy Pioneer
Global Companies Recognized as Leaders in the Transformation of the Energy Sector
NEW YORK, April 22, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bloomberg New Energy Finance, the definitive source of insight, data and news on the transformation of the energy sector, today announced Brisben Water, a water engineering, technology licensing and innovative U.S. manufacturing company, as a 2013 New Energy Pioneer. The winners were recognized on stage at the sixth annual Bloomberg New Energy Finance Summit in New York City.
"We are very proud to be a recipient of Bloomberg's prestigious New Energy Pioneer Award," said Dennis McGuire, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Brisben Water Technologies. "This award is further recognition and validation of Brisben Water's patented Ozonix® technology and our ability to cost-effectively treat and recycle wastewater for the oil and gas industry without the use of harmful chemicals."
McGuire continued, "Demand for wastewater treatment continues to grow within the oil and gas industry, and because water treatment is a critical component to many industries globally, including mining, municipal and other energy-related industries, we anticipate strong demand for our technology and continued growth for our company in the oil and gas industry and as we expand into other industries."
Brisben Water's patented Ozonix® technology is a revolutionary, chemical-free advanced oxidation process that is currently being used by energy exploration companies to reduce costs, increase treatment efficiencies and eliminate liquid chemicals from wastewater treatment operations around the United States. In the oil and natural gas industry, the unique value proposition for Ozonix® is that it not only allows operators to replace liquid chemical biocides and scale inhibitors on the front end of a hydraulic fracturing operation but also allows them to treat, recycle and re-use 100% of the flowback and produced waters on the back end, saving millions of gallons of water at each well site and eliminating the need for deep well injection disposal of this valuable resource.
Since December 2008, Brisben Water's patented Ozonix® technology has been used by major oil and gas operators to treat, recycle and reuse approximately 3 billion gallons of water on more than 700 oil and natural gas wells in major shale plays around the United States.
This year's winners represent a broad range of sectors including bioenergy, energy efficiency, digital energy, solar and water. By rewarding game-changing innovators, Bloomberg New Energy Finance hopes to highlight the speed of change in the sectors it serves.
The awards program, now in its fourth year, selects ten New Energy Pioneers each year. This year the independent panel of industry experts selected the winners from more than 200 candidates from around the world, assessing them against three criteria: innovation, demonstrated momentum and potential global scale.
Michael Liebreich, Chief Executive of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, said: "Tough times make for good entrepreneurs, and this is definitely what we are seeing in this year's New Energy Pioneers. Once again we need to thank the judges, who had to winnow down a strong field to just ten winners. We wish them all luck in the coming years."
Gil Forer, Ernst & Young's Global Cleantech leader, added, "These entrepreneurs and companies represent the technology and business model innovation which will enable the transformation to a more resource efficient and low carbon economy. Congratulations to all of them."
Other 2013 winners include Advantix Systems, BuildingIQ, d.light design, Draker, EcoNation, Harvest Power, Joule, Opower, and Whitewater Technologies.
